Construction Services
The work that Company has done, on a turnkey basis, over the
years covers almost all parts of the Oil and Petrochemical
industry's production facilities both onshore and offshore.
The onshore and offshore construction projects have ranged
from oil storage tanks (in association with KOYO Iron Works
& Construction Co.), jetty construction, pipelines, shipping
pumps and Automatic Custody Transfer (ACT) units to flares,
heaters and electrical power centers and most recently
environment clean up. The Company has also constructed
offices, laboratories, houses, workshops, fire fighting
facilities and infrastructure for its clients.
In 1958 FKS (at the time IHS) was established and was
involved in several minor building construction projects in
Khafji. These projects were for the most part residential
buildings and expansions to pre-existing buildings. The
company continued this type of work for several years until
1968.
In the period from 1968 to 1976 IHS was not permitted
contractually in competing for major construction projects
due to the fact that IHS's personnel were designing and
supervising all construction work at AOC. However, in 1976,
IHS was allowed to start bidding on maintenance and
construction contracts since IHS no longer provided
engineering design and technical services to AOC and hence
this field expanded and IHS started officially doing
contracts on a competitive basis for AOC. The first three
major contracts that IHS was awarded were for AOC in Khafji.
These were two contracts for the construction of a total of
96 houses for AOC employees and an air-conditioning rental
contract.
